clark. >> i'm pam cook. tori campbell has the morning off. it's tuesday, april 16th. >>> we begin with our developing news we've been following all morning. the fbi just wrapping up a news conference on the deadly bombings of the boston marathon. ktvu's alex savidge has been monitoring this conference with us in this newsroom and joins us now with the updates. >> reporter: well, good morning. the fbi did confirm a short time ago that a number of people have been questioned in this case but at this point, federal authorities say they do not have anyone in custody in connection with yesterday's attack in boston. at this point, there's no leading theory on what the motive might have been. within the last hour, we did get an update on the fbi on this investigation. this came out of boston. an fbi agent said investigators are still processing the scene of the bombing here near the finish line of the boston marathon. overnight, law enforcement agents searched a townhouse in the town of revere, right outside of boston. investigators were seen pulling a number of trash bags and a duffel

clark. >> good morning. i'm tori campbell. we want to go right to sal now with breaking news from san francisco. sal? >> all right. the smoke that was rising has become much less now. it's a house fire on holiday avenue between wright and peralta avenue. this fire is very close to cesar chavez street and highway 101. fire crews arrived on the scene. they were dispatched at 6:48. they got their quick. i heard the radio call during one of my traffic reports. they got there and knocked this down. it was reportedly a fire that started in the garage of this house and you can definitely see that there's smoke coming up but they have -- but they've declared the fire contained at this time in san francisco. stay with ktvu. we'll let you know as we find out more about the fire. we don't know if anyone has been injured or not. back to the desk. >>> thank you, sal. also happening now in san jose, within the past hour, firefighters raced to the scene of a popular south bay restaurant. ktvu's christien kafton joins us live from the scene to tell us what they found when they got there. good morning

morning. welcome to "mornings on 2." i'm dave clark. >> i'm tori campbell. we begin with sal. >> breaking news, crash, involving a transit bus and several other vehicles. ktvu's claudine wong is on the scene as we look at live pictures from newschopper2. they are working hard to clear the lanes. looks like one of the paramedic vehicle is just leaving -- vehicles is just leaving. let's go to claudine? >> reporter: five cars were involved. you can see multiple tow trucks out here trying to get these cars out of the way. pretty decent damage to the back of at least several cars that we've seen. the vta bus is actually up in front of that tow truck that you are looking at right now. now, i've talked to the chp about what happened and a witness out here who also stopped after this all happened. he says it all started with one car who rear ended another and then fell out of the car for some reason and that car drifted across the lanes and that's when all of these multiple collisions happened. here's the witness who pulled over describing what happened -- >> someone got rear ended here. the car

escalate. as kyla campbell reports from our washington, d.c. newsroom, john kerry is prepared to talk with north korea. >> reporter: dave, kerry says for those talks to happen, north korea has to be serious about negotiating the denuclearization of the korean peninsula. kerry met with leaders in south korea earlier today. he landed in seoul 30 miles from the demilitarized zone. his first visit to korea comes as classified information from the pentagon was mislabeled and red aloud at a public hearing yesterday. the report says u.s. officials do believe north korea has the ability to put a nuclear weapon on the missile but the weapon would have low reliability. kerry says north korea will not be accepted as a nuclear power. >> the united states will, if needed, defend our allies and defend ourselves. >> reporter: on this trip, kerry will also meet with leaders in china. and china has the most lev ernl with kim jung un . we'll hear more warnings from john kerry when i see you next hour. live in washington, kyla campbell, ktvu channel 2 news. >>> now we

is mike harris with campbell & company out of baltimore. mike, welcome back. >> thanks for having me. >> can you give us your best guess on what's taking place? i know you look at the charts, you watch the technicals. there was some sort of chatter, speculation, there was a big seller causing perhaps a technical move. lower in gold. what do you know? >> well, as far as looking at the move over the last couple of days, i think it really has formed in two parts. last week, certainly a number of the bank, including goldman, issuing sell recommendations. i talked to your viewers over the last several months, models following us, a fairly significant downtrend in the gold market. we've been short since january. as we look at the big levels coming up, the one i highlighted the last time i was on the program was that 15, 25 level, at the bottom of the trend channel. i think as some of the banks started to encourage sell recommendations, many investors who had been holding that long position for the last couple of years realized that was a line in the sand for many of them where in many case

prayers are with the campbell family of medford. and they are here today. their daughter, krystle, was always smiling. those who knew her said that with her red hair and her freckles and her ever eager willingness to speak her mind, she was beautiful, sometimes she could be a little noisy, and everybody loved her for it. she would have turned 30 next month. as her mother said through her tears, this doesn't make any sense. our prayers are with the lew family of china who sent their daughter to bu to experience all that this city has to offer. she was a 23-year-old student far from home, and her friends and family across the ocean are reminded of the great humanity that we all share. our prayers are with the richard family of dorchester. to denise and the young daughter jane as they fight to recover. and our hearts are broken for 8-year-old martin with his big smile and bright eyes. his last hours were as perfect as an 8-year-old boy could hope for with his family eating ice cream at a sporting event. and we're left with two enduring images of this little boy forever smiling for hi

commodity analysts name claude and campbell, they came out with study in 2012, that the fair market price for gold is $800 an ounce. they do this by calculating the price of gold against inflation going way back about 100 years. do you think that they go too far? >> well, it is interesting. when gold is rallying you hear people talk about $5,000 gold. now that we're falling, $800 gold is being bantered around. with what's happening around the world as far as the dollar printing going on in the united states and of course what's happening in japan, there is still a chance that economic growth will come back if in fact it does, then the gold market could get a little bump but right now what is really setting the stage is deflationary effect and gold is probably going to go steadily lower. $800 i think a little too far on the downside but i think we have another one to $200 going south. david: you think about $1100. why are stocks of gold producers falling more than gold itself? >> well it is interesting, the goal producers were never able to follow along with this rally. it is interesting t

18th. i'm in for tori campbell today. >> we're beginning with developing news from texas. the police are investigating a fertilizer plant explosion. right in the middle of a search and rescue operation. still not sure how many people may still be trapped in the rubble. last night the west fertilizer company blew up. this is the tiny community of west, texas. 20 miles north of waco. claudine in our news room with new announcement from the police. >> reporter: latest briefing wrapped up. here's what we learned. the fire is still burning at that plant but it is under control. the threat level in terms of another explosion has dropped significantly. there was concern that there could be another blast at that plant. certainly left concern hours ago. >> you okay? >> i can't hear. let's get out of here. please get out of here. >> everyone still trying to deal with the massive damage by the explosion you just watched. 50 to 75 homes and businesses and apartment complex all suffered heavy damage. the latest numbers of injured still stands at more than 160. the death toll still estimated at 5
